The show was the springboard for the
launch of our New Food Service Range into Asia. Our stand at Singapore Food Hotel
Asia was continuously busy, at one stage we had 5 staff, 3 local sales team and 2 from our
international sales team. Our products, been all natural,
generated an enormous interest from hotels and restaurants, both in Singapore and as far as
Hong Kong.
Many companies are interested in distributing our natural products to
The Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Korea and Brunei, negotiations
are on the way to establish distribution networks
in the above countries.
The show stopper was the free tasting of all our Mustards and Spicy
Cranberries. Favourable comments of the chefs
and the show crowd about the delicious taste of our products, was very gratifying for our hard
working staff.
"Japan mission was very
successful, already generating sales."
This was the statement from the team leader on return from Japan.
Orders have been placed for Whittingtons natural products. The
first order has been
shipped to Japan in record time, thanks to our staff in the
manufacturing branch.
On return from Japan we stopped to
visit our Singapore office.
Singaporeans Update
In March NTUC Fair Price Finest Supermarkets extended the number of
outlets
stocking
Whittingtons brands and the number of products stocked.
In a visit to the Bukit Timah Plaza and Thompson Road and Marine
Parade stores it became obvious
that sales of mustards, essences and herbs and spices were performing
well.
In one of the stores Whittingtons Mustard is the market leader in the
category.
During April, these major NTUC stores will be featuring WA produce
again during a Western Australia promotion.
Terry Redman, the WA Minister of Agriculture & Food will be
visiting the stores and
Whittingtons will run cooking demonstrations during this period.

Whittingtons At Launch of 'Buy
West Eat Best'
Whittingtons buys most of the
ingredients for its fine mustards from local farmers in Western
Australia. As a supporter of Australian grown
ingredients we were asked to attend the launch of the Buy West Eat Best campaign by the
Hon. Terry Redman, Minister of Agriculture and Food. All our mustard seeds come from
the Wheatbelt with farmers growing yellow and black mustard seeds. Our mustards are preserved with
fine wine from the Mount Barker region and apple cider vinegar from
Donnybrook. It makes sense to buy local from
an Australian company supporting Australian farmers; especially as all
the products are natural. Where possible Whittingtons Herbs
& Spices are grown and harvested by local Australian farmers. At the launch of Western
Australia's initiative to buy local we highlighted our Coriander,
Fenugreek, Mustard Seed and extensive range
of natural salts. These include Garlic Salt, Celery
Salt, Onion Salt, Vegetable Salt, Chicken Salt, Lake Salt, Table Salt
and Sea Salt. Apart from sea salt this range of
salts is all based on ancient salt harvested at Lake Deborah in Western
Australia.

Whittingtons
has
just
returned
from
Hofex
food
show
in
Hong
Kong,
which covers most of Asia. Food critic Jules Baras has the following to
say
about Whittingtons products:
"Food
Products"
My
favourite new food product to
Asia has to be the herbs, spices, and
mustards
produced
by
Whittingtons
of
Perth,
Western
Australia.
I
was
attracted to the counter by the aroma of sausages
sizzling in Chef Ernest
Battimiello frying pan. Cooked in a beer mustard,
the taste was absolutely
divine, and had me returning to his stall time
and time again to sample more
of his creations. Using his extensive range,
including gourmet Australian red
wine
mustard, chilli-mustard, premium milled pepper, natural rum essence,
and
lemon essence, to name but a few, I will definitely seek out these
products when they hit
the shelves."
